It is concluded with the Federal Aviation Administration written exam. The Base Camp is stationary, usually in Iowa.</P> <P>The Tour Camp is dedicated to the cross-country portion of the FAA Private Pilot curriculum. Instead of flying round trips and triangles, we travel one big circle of about 7000 miles, through the following states: Colorado , Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and California, plus possibly some others; visiting monuments and national parks such as, Arches, Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point, Lake Powell in Glen Canyon, Monument Valley, Zion, Bryce, Snow Canon near St. George Utah, Rocky Mountain N.P., Valley of Fire S.P., Mesa Verde, Four Corners, Meteor Crater, and of course the Grand Canyon, and famous towns like Moab, Utah or Sedona, Arizona.</P> <P>During this trip we engage in a number of "extracurricular" outdoor fun adventures, such as: such as river rafting, water ski, open air theatre, caves, horse back riding, boating, hiking, primitive camping, parachuting, swimming, cliff jumping, museums, bicycling, mini golf, rapelling, and more.</P> <P>Food during this cowboy-style trip is very simple, mostly sandwich lunches and, time and location permitting, campfire cookout dinners. Accommodation is campground or wilderness camping in sleeping bags under the stary sky, or sometimes under an airplane's wings. Tents are reserved for wimps and anti-romantics. Flexibility in Action is the camp's motto, which translates into team-work, social responsibility, creativity, self-sufficiency, and a positive attitude -- qualities which are not only the mark of a good pilot, but of any successful person in life.</P> <P>The Tour Camp is escorted by a number of vehicles, depending on the size of the group. A special feature of FTAC is our Magic Bus, nick-named "One-O-One Mike Bravo", a former Denver transit bus, prominently painted in the FTAC color scheme, which holds our moving class room, equipment storage, and camp headquarters.</P> <P><STRONG><FONT SIZE="+1">FTAC for Youth</FONT></STRONG></P> <P>FTAC's youthcamp version, Flight Training Adventure Camps for Youth (FTAC-Y) is a co-educational residential three-week summer camp in the same style, with two main distinctions:</P> <UL> <LI>One, the training curriculum per session is "only" the first solo, with an extension up to seven weeks for Private Pilot Licensing. <LI>Two, there is no Base Camp, since there is no written test.
